China Water Affairs Group Limited ("China Water" or "the Company", stock code: 00855.HK) signed a US$200 million Loan agreement with Asian Development Bank ("ADB") in Beijing, the People’s Republic of China (PRC) on 2 March, 2018. The project aims to support the development of integrated of urban and rural water supply system in PRC.
Mr. Duan Chuan Liang, China Water Chairman, Mr. Li Zhong, China Water Executive Director, Mr. Liu Yong, China Water General Manager, and Mr. Christopher Thieme, ADB’s Private Sector Operations Department Deputy Director General, Ms. Hisaka Kimura, East Asia Unit Head of ADB's Private Sector Operations Department, Ms. Li Kan, External Relations Focal Point Officer, attended the signing ceremony. The agreement was signed by Mr. Christopher Thieme and Chairman Duan Chuan Liang.
China Water Chairman Mr. Duan Chuan Liang expressed his warm welcome to the arrival of the ADB team, and his gratitude for ADB’s long-term support to China Water over the past nine years.
“China Water has carried out urban and rural water supply integration projects in its existing water supply service areas in China in recent years, and has achieved remarkable success, enabling millions of rural residents to drink the safest and cleanest tap water like urban residents.” said China Water Chairman Mr. Duan Chuan Liang, “The financing from ADB this time will support the construction and operation of a series of water treatment and distribution, wastewater treatment, urban flood control, and sewage and drainage pipelines in second and third-tier cities in the PRC. At the same time, it will also make due contributions to promote the construction of beautiful countryside.”
“Ensuring accessible, safe, and reliable water supplies for the PRC’s urban areas is an urgent development priority,” said Mr. Thieme. “This financing supports CWA in pioneering new approaches to urban water management where multiple services are integrated to increase water efficiency.”
